So WordPress just updated like WordPress likes to do every so often. By the way, it’s really important to make sure your site keeps updated with the newest WordPress Updates. Like REALLY important. Staying on top of updates is what helps keep your site secure from hackers. Anyway, WordPress updated and over the last few days I’ve seen posts in groups about how this and that isn’t working since the update. I’ve had the same problem over on Jefferson Parish Parent with links not working properly.
In my experience when this happens 80-90% of the time it is a conflict between the new WordPress update and a plugin you have installed that hasn’t been updated to be compatible with the new updates (make sure you keep your plugins updated also). The fix is simple!
Step 1: Deactivate all of your plugins, then check and see if the issue is fixed with them all deactivated. If it is, proceed to step two.
Step 2: Activate your plugins one by one, checking each time to see if the issue reappears. If it does, than it’s that plugin causing your issue.
Step 3: Deactivate the plugin until it updates or find a different plugin that has been tested with the current version of windows that does the same.
See simple fix that you can do yourself. The only time I couldn’t do it myself was when a plugin conflict kept me from even logging into WordPress and I had to contact my host to delete the plugin from the site’s files. I actually contacted them for help on finding where to delete it and they did for me. YAY!
So next time your site isn’t working properly after a WordPress update, try this before you panic or hire someone!
