One of my passions is photography! I LOVE everything about photography. And I take a lot of pictures, A LOT! However, there are times when I’m writing a post that I don’t have an image that conveys the message I want. And it’s usually those times when I don’t have the time to set up and take the picture myself. These are the times I turn to stock photography. As a lover of photography, I need the image to make me feel something. I have spent countless hours searching for the RIGHT image
You’re probably thinking to yourself “Why do I need to use stock photography on my website and social media? Can’t I just go to Google Images and grab a picture?” Well no you can’t just do that. One it’s illegal. The images in Google Images are copyrighted by the person that took the image. So unless you have permission to use them from the creator, you can’t use them. Doing so may land you in trouble and having to pay a HEFTY usage or licensing fee. I don’t know about you but I don’t have 1000’s of dollars to spend.
Three Websites To Get FREE Stock Photography
Unsplash – I could spend HOURS looking at the images on Unsplash. In fact I have before. They are just breathtaking and perfect for social media and blogging. You can sign up for their newsletter and get the images in your inbox or you can just explore the website. I suggest just exploring the website.
Freestocks.org – I actually found Freestocks.org through Unsplash. They post their images on there and I followed the trail back to their website. They don’t have much on the site yet but what they do have is really good.
Pixabay – A friend told me about Pixabay a few weeks ago. She was searching for a stock photography site after Dollar Photo Club closed and it was recommended to her. If I can’t find what I want on Unsplash or Freestocks, Pixabay seems to have it.
All three of these sites are free for you to use for both personal and commercial use with no attribution. Make sure you always check the license terms as they are subject to change and you should NEVER claim these photos as your own.
